Students lead co-curricular groups and share expertise – Competition Writing Group / Focus #2

Standards: 1.2; 1.3; 1.5; 2.2; 2.6; 4.5

Leading the writing interest group, Competition Writing (must change that title), is about teaching writing, or at least facilitating the learning of writing skills, supporting and mentoring leaders, encouraging peer mentorship, and documenting and sharing evidence of what happens, for example, in this post, the impressive leadership skills of talented students. Often it’s about stepping aside and letting the students demonstrate their skills after carefully moderating the leadership team.

The talent and depth of knowledge amongst the Competition Writing co-curricular group is remarkable. Will Lim, one of the co-captains, spoke to the group today about perspectives in writing. It’s a shame I could only record a section of his talk – more than halfway through.
